Busy as a Bryan – Been Busy!

Busy as a Bryan – Been Busy!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been quite busy lately and I am going to attempt to let you all in on my most recent goings ons.

Whew, where to start. Well, okay last month, I got involved with my first producing venture. After contacting one of the many awesome Nebraskan’s I have met out here in Hollywood, Michael Montgomery, regarding acting opportunities, I ended up being asked to help produce his project.  Mike was this last years Coca Cola Refreshing Filmmaker award winner. I saw his award winning film, Meanwhile, at one of the Nebraska Coast Connection meetings. It was awesome!  It is supposed to be playing in 10,000 theaters across the nation previous to the main film.  After being impressed with Mike’s work, I stayed in contact with him and several months ago I emailed him to see if he had any upcoming projects that I would be right to audition for.  He said that he had an upcoming project, but he didn’t think I would be right to audition for it.  You see, Mike’s film, The Garden, is set in 12,000BCE Africa and all the actors are African American. Though improving at my craft daily, I don’t think I am quite to the level of pulling of a performance like Robert Downy Jr. in Tropic Thunder.  After receiving the news, Mike asked if I would be interested in helping produce. Since I am interested in many different aspects of film, I definitely took him up on the offer.  We have filmed the first portion of the film this Fall and will pick-up the remained of the shots in March.  I will be putting up Mike’s website soon, so stay tuned to the website twitter updates for when we launch that.

Secondly, I have been very busy auditioning. My agents at Osbrink are working very hard for me and I feel very blessed to be auditioning as frequently as I am. Every audition is like another notch in your belt. You just have to look at each audition as a chance to work on your craft, to perform, to improve.  And with each no, you are closer to a yes.  I have had some good auditions and I getting better day by day.

Thirdly, as you can see by the image connected to this post, I have recently got some new headshots. I had them taken by James at Fail Safe Photography. I think James did a pretty good job and he is really affordable.  I would recommend him. If you’d like to see some of my headshots new and old, please check out my headshots page.

Another thing that I am about to start doing, maybe more into the new year, but I am going to be doing some interning with some casting directors. I think this will be a good opportunity to learn many things and meet some great people.  I got involved with this through another Nebraskan, Troy Daniel Smith.

I am continuing my studies of the Meisner Technique with Bill Alderson and things are going great. My class works hard and I think that we are pushing each other to get better, which I think is great.  I have met some really good friends through it as well.  One of my friends, Patty Malcom, has encouraged me to look in to doing stand-in work on True Blood because she has a friend that works on the show which she believes I have a similar essence too.  That would be a good experience as well.  I am still pursuing this, so we’ll see what happens.

In addition to my Meisner class, I am taking a comedy class from casting director Nick Anderson. We are basically breaking down things to understand why things are funny and what types of choices actors can make to make their sides funny.  It is really good and I am enjoying it a lot.  This week is our last week.

This week, I have started production on Andrew Robinson’s (director of April Showers) next film, In the Darkness.  We had a very late night last night filming, but it was really a lot of fun.  Ben Chrystak and I had some really great times rockin’ n’ rollin’. Check out Andrew’s post about our evening last night here.  I know Ben and I had several “moments” as my teacher, Bill Alderson, calls them.  Moments are basically when the actors are truly in the moment and the result of what happens is a truly organic response.  Those were great “moments”.  I am excited for this film to come out!

I have launched several websites as of late as well. I have launched the websites Dukandar, Tangerine Sky (which I acted in), and In the Darkness .  Let me know what you think.  I have also made some connections with some other designers as far as collaborating.
